Welcome to the Communities for Future wiki!
This wiki presents bottom-up, community-led action in response to social and environmental challenges in the 21st century. It's an essential part of Communities for Future programme. We collect information about community-led initiatives on climate change and sustainability, bridging formal research and knowledge arising from practical action. Hosted by ECOLISE, the European network for community-led initiatives on sustainability and climate change, this wiki supports co-creation, compilation and synthesis of knowledge on community-led action primarily in Europe, but also globally.
Conceptually, we see community-led initiatives as:

Movements and networks of community-led initiatives
Citizens' self-organisation leads to the formation of movements, networks and organisations with distinct identities. Those with the strongest presence on this wiki are Permaculture, Ecovillage and Transition movements. Three broader areas we focus on are community energy, social economy, community food production, and solutions to waste. These areas find expression in movements, organisations an projects such as Slow food, Degrowth, Zero Waste, Let's Do It World, RIPESS solidarity-based economy, RESCoop energy community, La Via Campesina peasants' movement, as well as by various Impact hubs, Living labs, land trusts, seed exchange networks etc. Here is an extensive list of movements and networks of community-led initiatives.
