Ecovillages in Latvia

The Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) lists 1 projects in their database. This number is however only reflecting the projects that have registered themselves on the database. The ecovillage database contains ecovillage projects of all sizes and in all stages of development.[3]

The ecovillages of Latvia are part of the Baltic Ecovillage Network (BEN), an association connecting projects around the Baltic Sea which is operated by a board of 11 board members from its different membership countries.

World Cleanup Day in Latvia

[The Big Cleanup] or Talkas in Latvian, is a ongoing campaign taking place since 2008.

All three Baltic states – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania – organised their first Cleanups on the 90-years anniversary of their statehoods in 2008. The first World Cleanup Day coordinated by the Let`s do it! World movement took place in 2018 when Baltic states celebrated 100 years of statehood. Latvian national cleanup is probably the most consistent and among the most innovative and diverse.[4]
